SW4 is a dream for all dance music lovers, it has a festival vibe without the hassle of setting up a tent. You can go enjoy yourself through the day sipping on a Rekorderlig and if that’s not enough you can go to one of their after parties, get the new night tube home to a comfy bed, to wake up and do it all over again on the Sunday.
Cirez D kicked off the festival and from there the energy just grew, unfortunately it rained on and off throughout but that certainly didn’t dampen the spirits of the Clapham Common dance enthusiasts.
The SW4 live tent was half full when we arrived but after 5 minutes of Route 94‘s set it suddenly blew up with 6000 dancers from across London & beyond!
What food was on offer?
They had a wide range of food on offer from fish and chips, burgers, jamaican jerk chicken, indian curry, thai food, hot dogs, falafel, high end independent coffee shops + much much more. There was something for everyone!
What music was on offer?
Who were the top performer (in my opinion)?
The Chemical Brothers. Not much else to say we all know their pedigree. They had it all.. light shows, massive dancing LED robots, dancing LED figurines. Their tracks were off the chart and they played all of their big hits as well as their current new comers. Their set ended with Galvanize, which as you would expect… got the whole crowd raving.
Was it worth the ticket price?
Yes, when you look at the acts that played 3/4 of them had Ibiza residencies, if you put that it into perspective the whole weekend would cost less than a couple of drinks in Ibiza!
The main negatives were because it is in a high residential area they legally can not turn the music up too loud so there was certain stages where you felt the atmosphere and energy could have been greater if the music production was better.
The second was the festivals organisation, entry and exiting took ages even though we had quick entry press passes. We were also denied entry on multiple occasions to the photo pit of which we were allowed access so it meant we could not get the images we would have liked.
Overall SW4 was a success on the Sunday that we were there, lot’s of excitement, energy and top class DJ’s. If you want a festival next year with a high calibre of acts without the hassle of camping this is the festival for you.
